Biography

As well as running the FSTHS Foundation Year, I teach Psychology across different programmes. I contribute to various modules within the faculty, including research methods and sport, as well as supervise master’s students psychology dissertations.

I completed my undergraduate degree and PhD studies at St Mary’s University, where I now work as a lecturer. Remaining at St Mary’s has allowed me to contribute to a supportive and familiar academic community while continuing to develop my teaching and research. In 2021, I received the British Psychological Society’s Sexualities Section Postgraduate Award.

Outside of work, I play the saxophone and practise Taekwondo, competing in competitions when I can. I’m also an avid reader and enjoy getting stuck into a good book, whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, or something psychology-related. I am passionate about history and love exploring castles and ruins.

I hold an undergraduate degree and a PhD in Psychology from St Mary’s University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCert).

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Research

Research profile

My research examines the complexities of gender and sexuality, with a particular focus on gay women’s sexualities, gender identities, and sociosexuality - an area often overlooked in psychological research. I aim to challenge stereotyping and the pervasive narratives about gay women's sexuality that prevent it from being recognised as a valuable research area. My work seeks to broaden perspectives on sexual diversity, bringing sexual minorities into the conversation and promoting inclusivity and respect.
