Biography
Ashley is the Programme Lead for the Performance Football Coaching MSc, joining St Mary's in December 2022.
Previous experience within the sports development and coaching sectors has been vast, including a previous lecturing post at the University Campus Football Business and coaching roles with Brighton and Hove Albion, Fulham FC and numerous grassroots clubs. Ashley has also operated within the County FA network, supporting coaches and referee development through his position as Head of Football Workforce at Surrey FA.
Ashley has been involved in coaching for over 15 years, and worked as a coach educator for The FA for the last 9 years, mentoring and delivering courses to aspiring coaches across Surrey and South London.
Aswell as leading on the MSc Performance Football Coaching degree, Ashley will support delivery across a number of other degrees at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate level. One of these will include the BSc Sports Psychology degree, a subject Ashley is extremely passionate about having completed his own BSc in Sport Psychology and Coaching Sciences, before graduating with a MSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology in 2013.

Ashley has ambitions to undertake PhD in the future with strong research interests in coach education and development, particularly focusing on coach communication strategies in training and on matchdays.
