Biography
Daragh Minogue is Associate Professor and Course Lead of the postgraduate Sports Journalism programmes.
In 2010, he launched the MA in Sports Journalism in collaboration with News Associates - the first Sports Journalism course in the UK to be professionally accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ).
Co-author of Sports Journalism: The State of Play published by Routledge in 2019, he has also contributed to the advanced journalism training programme at Sky Sports News and has appeared on the channel to discuss racism and sectarianism in the sport. He has recently organised conferences on journalism ethics and the sports media and identity. In 2018, he received an industry commendation for promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in journalism.
Dr Minogue gained a first-class degree in politics from the University of Portsmouth in 1994 and completed his doctorate in contemporary Irish politics in 2000. He is currently an external examiner for the journalism programmes at the University of Ulster.
