Biography
Mary Nkune is the ITT Partnerships lead in the Institute of Education.
Mary has previously spent nearly a decade teaching Science (specialising in Chemistry) in schools in West London, achieving outstanding outcomes whilst leading on GCSE science. She has also held a variety of whole school roles including leading on teaching and learning, teacher development, Pupil premium progress and anti-racism and diversity.
Mary is passionate about teacher training and the impact of high-quality teachers in schools, particularly for disadvantaged students. She is committed to developing strong links between St Mary’s IOE and partnerships schools to ensure that trainee teachers have access to expert teachers and mentors throughout their training.
Before a career in education, Mary completed a degree in Biomedical sciences and spent 4 years working as a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist in the NHS, specialising in Cellular pathology. She continues to be a licentiate member of the Institute of Biomedical Science.
