Biography

At St Mary’s, Jakub supports the development and delivery of Laudato Si' Champions, the workstream of the Guardians of Creation Project that focuses on integral ecology in Catholic schools, funded by the Assumption Legacy Fund.

Jakub is also a research fellow on the project exploring the distinctiveness of Catholic Multi-Academy Trusts, sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross Charitable Incorporated Organisation and St Mary’s University.

Jakub has an active research interest in eco-apocalypticism. He is the author of A Philosophy of Climate Apocalypticism: In and Against the World (Routledge 2025), and the editor of The Environmental Apocalypse: Interdisciplinary Reflections on the Climate Crisis (Routledge 2023).

Jakub holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Essex, and an MA and a BA also in Philosophy from the University of Sussex. He is a Laudato Si' Action Platform Sector Partner, the co-organiser of the London Conference in Critical Thought, and a member of the Executive Committee of Society for European Philosophy.
