Biography
Alistair Milne is Senior Theatre Technician of the Drama Programmes. Graduating from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in Stage Management and Technical Theatre, Alistair then embarked on a career as an entertainment laser engineer and designer for a worldwide touring ice show and several corporate engagements ensued.
A two-week offer of work at Battersea Arts Centre led to an eight-year period with the Production Team, the last four as Technical Manager. Alistair’s passion for theatre lies in working with new writers, directors and newly formed companies, which BAC nurtures. Many are now recognisable names such as Told By an Idiot, Kneehigh, Filter, Tom Morris, Punchdrunk, Stuart Lee, Jerry Springer the Opera, Gecko and Alistair’s all-time favourite show Gormenghast produced by David Glass Ensemble.
During his time here Alistair discovered a passion for sound design and further trained in Sound Engineering, receiving a distinction from City of Westminster College.
Alistair continues to work professionally in the entertainment industry and believes in continually developing expertise in new technologies which he can bring to St Mary’s to further develop technical theatre and production within the Drama Department. Recent events include UK Olympic Opening Ceremony for Team Australia, US Ambassadors Paralympic Party (Foo Fighters), Private ‘roof’ event for Lady GaGa,and the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed.
