Biography
Helen joined St. Mary’s in 2021 as a senior lecturer. She is currently programme leader for the primary PGCE and teaches mathematics and master’s for the PGCE cohort.
Helen has had extensive experience in primary education as a lecturer, adviser and headteacher. Helen’s teaching experience was in inner and outer London primary schools, most in areas of high deprivation.
Helen completed her EdD in February 2023. Her thesis explored how primary-aged pupils with a speech-language and communication disorder best learn mathematics in mainstream classrooms.

Helen’s particular interests are in underperforming groups including children with additional needs, with a focus on mathematics. She has presented at BRSLM.
