Biography
Shivani is a dual-qualified lawyer (England &Wales and India) with significant expertise in serious crimes and appeals, administrative and public law.
Prior to joining St Mary's, Shivani worked as senior associate, litigation at Project 39A where she represented persons sentenced to death before the Supreme Court of India and State High Courts. She has also worked at the office of the Additional Solicitor General of India at the Supreme Court. Shivani had led research and advocacy on many constitutionally significant cases while litigating in India.
Shivani read for the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at the University of Oxford focusing on public law courses such as constitutional theory, comparative human rights, criminal justice and security etc.
To be able to adapt to different learners, Shivani uses a variety of teaching methods ranging from active learning to blended approach.

Shivani's research interests lie at the intersection of law and society to better understand challenges to access justice, especially criminal justice.
