Biography
Kofi Amegashie is a Senior Lecturer in Business Management with the School of Business at St Mary’s University Twickenham. He has some 30 years’ experience with blue-chip multinationals, including Chevron, Shell and the Coca-Cola Company. The bulk of his career was spent in line management positions in Southeast Asia, India, Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
After serving as General Manager for Mekong region (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos) he led the development of the India market entry strategy for Chevron Lubricants in 2000. Kofi was subsequently named as one of the integration managers for the 2001 ChevronTexaco merger after which he joined the International Finance Corporation (part of the World Bank Group) in Washington DC as a manager in the Small & Medium Enterprise Development with responsibility for sub-Saharan Africa.
He left the IFC in September 2003 to establish a boutique management consultancy, Strat Afrique Development (Pty) Limited. In 2006, he joined The Coca-Cola Company as director of marketing, strategy & business planning for the Nigeria & Equatorial Africa Division. He was based in Lagos until 2010. On his return to South Africa, he joined Alexander Forbes as CEO of the Insurance and Pension Administration businesses in the Rest of Africa whilst serving on operating company boards as well. After the sale of the business to Marsh McClennan in 2011, Kofi was appointed managing director (Africa) for the JSE-listed pharmaceutical company, Adcock Ingram, where he also served on operating company boards. He subsequently headed-up sub-Saharan Africa for FTSE100 pharmaceutical, Hikma PLC. He also served as a non-executive director of PATH - the Gates Foundation funded healthcare not-for-profit.
Kofi joined the Aspen Institute affiliated not-for-profit leadership development organisation, Africa Leadership Initiative, as executive director before being appointed Managing Director of another boutique strategy consultancy, Drayton Glendower & Associates, in the United Kingdom.
Since 2021, Kofi has been a lecturer in Strategic and International Business Management at Coventry Business School, where he has run MBA Apprenticeship programs and Hertfordshire Business School teaching on the MSc International Management.
He is a Sloan Fellow with a Master of Science degree in Management from the London Business School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Exeter as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Air Transport Planning & Management from the University of Westminster. Kofi is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. (AFHEA). He holds a Pilot’s Licence and is bilingual – English/French.
