St Mary’s University is seeking an academic leader to join its School of Medicine (SoM) as Director of Undergraduate Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join the SoM which is transforming medical education by developing academically and purpose driven doctors who lead by example and change the world for the better.

The Director will be responsible for the new MBBS Programme and will drive forward further development of medical education within the School of Medicine. This is a key strategic leadership role and the post provides an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the University and field of medical education at a critical time in its development. The post holder will be responsible for the overall development, delivery, and quality assurance of the MBBS programme.
Key aspects of the role include leading a cohesive values-led programme team, and liaison with professional bodies such as the GMC and local education providers.
The post holder will be a practising and experienced clinician, with extensive experience of UK medical education and the associated governance and quality assurance of an undergraduate medical programme. They will be expected to promote, develop, and support pedagogic research and ensure research informed teaching and curriculum design. The postholder is expected to be medically qualified, clinically active, and registered with the GMC with a full licence to practise. An appointment would be made at between 0.6fte and 0.8fte to facilitate the continuation of clinical practice.
