St Mary’s Occupational Therapy Academic Appointed Education Director at WFOT

Associate Professor in Occupational Therapy at St Mary’s University, Twickenham (SMU) Dr Kee Hean Lim has been appointed the Director of Education for the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.

This role will see Kee Hean involved in the setting and monitoring of standards in occupational therapy education across the globe. Kee Hean will hold this appointment for a four year period.

The World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) is the official international organisation representing the occupational therapy profession. The aim of the organisation is to set the standard for occupational therapy education internationally, as well as promote excellence in research and practice.

WFOT has had an official relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO) since 1959, undertaking a collaborative work programme with the aim of improving world health.

Speaking on his appointment, Kee Hean said, “This role involves ensuring that all WFOT-approved Occupational Therapy programmes attain the required educational quality and professional practice standards. As an Executive committee member with educational quality responsibilities, over the next year I will be leading on the international review and development of new educational and professional practice standards for Occupational Therapists across the world.”
