Physiotherapy students at St Mary’s University, Twickenham (SMU) have led a well-being session for staff at Deer Park View Care Home, where they are currently on placement.
Second-year BSc Physiotherapy students, Eda Karaca and Emma Heaps, took the initiative to run a well-being session for the care home staff. Eda led a mindfulness Pilates session to support staff with movement and relaxation.
Speaking on the session, the Deer Park View Wellbeing Co-ordinator said, “I’m so grateful to work with St Mary’s University, and I’m glad the staff took some time for themselves.”
One staff member said, “My back feels so much more relaxed after the session. I was so stiff before.”
Another said, "I didn’t know what Pilates was before, You’ve opened my eyes!"
Speaking on the session, St Mary’s student Emma said, “It was a lovely, relaxing evening session and was just what we needed after a busy day.”
Eda added, "It was so nice to see everyone taking part and enjoying it.”
