Dr Alex Bliss, Associate Professor and Subject Lead for Strength and Conditioning at St Mary’s University, Twickenham (SMU) has been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief at the International Journal of Golf Science.
The journal is a peer reviewed publication and is the official journal of Golf Science, also known as the World Scientific Congress of Golf. The journal itself was first published in August 2012 by Human Kinetics and is now published through Scholastica.
The mission of the journal is to advance the scientific knowledge of the game of golf, and in turn enhance the game through the application of that knowledge. All papers in the journal are open access with researchers able to submit and publish with the journal for free.
As part of the appointment, Alex also joins the Board of Golf Science.
Alex’s PhD and golf research focuses primarily on the application and integration of physical training within high-performance golf. In 2022, Alex edited the book “Strength and Conditioning for Golf: A Guide for Coaches and Players” which was published by Routledge and has had copies sold worldwide.
Speaking on his appointment Alex said, “I am honoured to take the role of Editor-in-Chief at the International Journal of Golf Science. The journal plays a crucial role in the creation and dissemination of knowledge in golf. I’d like to thank outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Dr Martin Toms, for considering me and congratulate him on his successful tenure in the role. I look forward to leading the journal and welcome prospective authors of golf research to consider submitting there in the future.”
