About us
The Estates and Campus Services department supports the day to day running of the University’s land and buildings. Our main campus is home to a diverse range of spaces including teaching and learning environments, a refectory and café, a chapel and multi-faith rooms, staff offices, sports fields, a theatre, a fitness centre and approximately 670 student bedrooms. Our work supporting this is extremely varied and covers:
Online forms for waste collection and key cutting
What we have done
Some of the highlights of the last few years include:
- Old House – refurbishment of 92 student bedrooms
- Dolce Vita - a new catering provision through Tchibo, providing sustainable quality coffee and food.
- Sports lighting – installation of new LED floodlights
- Commuter lounge – a space for visitors to relax
- 24 hours library – a comfortable new study space
- Car and cycle parking improvements – provision of extra cycle spaces and student parking at our campuses with an easy to use parking payment app
- New physio teaching rooms at 60 Waldegrave Road
- Opening of a new Student hub in the Library
- Refurbishment of the toilets close to main reception. This includes a new gender neutral facility, shower room, baby feeding room and a Changing Places facility

And finally…
Here’s some facts and figures about our campuses and what we do:
- We have over 40,000 square meters of floor space in approximately 50 separate buildings
- This includes over 100 separate teaching spaces providing nearly 4,000 desk or equivalent spaces for students (pre-Covid)
- Our green space covers 12 acres on our main campus and a further 12 acres at Teddington Lock all of which is the equivalent of 12 full sized football pitches
- There are over 700 trees at our sites, the majority of which have protected status
- We provide 290 car spaces and 200 cycle spaces across our sites
- We have our own team of skilled plumbers, electricians, carpenters and groundsmen
- On average they receive approximately 6,000 job requests each year, roughly equally divided between plumbing, electrical and carpentry work with another 300 key cutting requests
