Professor of Politics and International Relations at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, Baron Kamall of Edmonton has today been installed in the House of Lords as a Life Peer.
Baron Kamall, who joined St Mary’s in 2019, was conferred his life-peerage in Boris Johnson’s 2020 Political Honours list following a long career in European politics. He served as a member of the European Parliament for London from 2005-2019. During his career at the EU, he was leader of the Conservatives in the European Parliament from 2013-2014 and Co-Chair of the European Conservatives and Reformists from 2014-2019.
After leaving the European parliament in 2019, he joined St Mary’s as Professor of Politics and International Relations and the Institute of Economic Affairs as Academic and Research Director. During his time at St Mary’s he has taught on the University’s undergraduate Politics and International Relations and postgraduate Diplomacy and International Relations programmes.
He also taken part in Universities programme of public events, including an evening of conversation with Sir Robbie Gibb and webinar with Sir Vince Cable.
