St Mary’s Climbs to Highest Ever Position in Good University Guide

St Mary’s University, Twickenham has climbed to its highest ever ranking in the 2022 edition of the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide.

The annual ranking, which compares universities from across the UK in a range of categories, sees St Mary’s climb 19 places to sit in its highest ever ranking of 67^th in the league table.

The 2022 edition of the guide also marks the first time St Mary’s has sat in the top half of the national ranking. Locally, the University came 12^th in London, being ranked second for teaching quality and student experience.

The findings of the Good University Guide come following excellent feedback from students in the 2021 National Student Survey (NSS). The annual survey, which asks final year students to rate their university experience in a range of areas, found that students at the University have rated St Mary’s second in London for overall student satisfaction, excluding small and specialist institutions. St Mary’s also continued to outperform the wider sector, ranking 18^th nationally for overall satisfaction, 6.3% ahead of the sector average.

St Mary’s also ranked second in London amongst higher education institutions with university status for learning opportunities and learning community. The University outperformed the sector average in the six other key categories:

• Teaching on my course
• Academic support
• Student voice
• Assessment and feedback
• Learning resources
• Organisation and management

Speaking of the publication of the Good University Guide, St Mary’s Vice-Chancellor Anthony McClaran said, “I am delighted to see St Mary’s enter the top half of the Good University Guide for the first time.
