Two students studying MSc Football Performance Coaching (Distance Learning) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham have secured employment at Fulham Football Club.
Sinead Kerr has secured the position of Individual Player Development Coach for the Women’s team where she will lead the Individual Player Development Programme to support players within the women’s game model.
Speaking of her new appointment, Sinead said “I always wanted to attend a university that could offer me high quality teaching and allow me to develop in the football industry. This innovative and engaging distance learning experience has enabled me to have a deeper understanding of evidence-based knowledge and skills in football coaching and performance.
It’s been an honour working with world leading academic staff that go above and beyond to deliver a unique online experience. This MSc has opened up new opportunities in women’s football and I’m now very excited to start my next chapter at Fulham Women's Football Club”.
Julio Costa has been employed as an Academy Data Scientist responsible for leading data collection, storage processes and analytics for the Academy departments to support the delivery of the Academy’s Mission.
Julio said “The programme not only made me think of how to enhance positive coaching practices, but also to develop myself further in different aspects of the game (eg performance analysis & data analysis)”.
Course Lead of MSc Performance Football Coaching at St Mary’s, Mike Gilham said ‘’We are really pleased to hear of Julio and Sinead’s successes in terms of their employment recently. This has been testament to the students themselves in relation to their work ethic and continuous professional development. We’re particularly pleased to hear the role the course has played in progressing their skillset and fantastic to see the students working with one of our key industry partners’’.
