St Mary’s University, Twickenham has been granted a substantial equipment and a fully funded courses grant by The Lacrosse Foundation.
The St Mary’s Lacrosse Club, which was formed in the 2015/16 season, are the beneficiaries of over 50 items of equipment and full funding for two English Lacrosse Level 1 officiating referee and two equivalent Coaching courses.
The Lacrosse Foundation has a number of key objectives, notably the Championing of the sport throughout the UK by providing kit, goals and courses and they are fully committed to promoting community participation of the sport, as well as expanding and advancing the education of young people and providing the provision of facilities and equipment.
Alex Turnbull the Club Development Officer at St Mary’s said, “The development plan of the Lacrosse club at St Mary’s University reflects our desire and ambition to have a strong presence in the BUCS leagues, including a detailed recruitment plan and we provided The Lacrosse Foundation with the evidence they needed to back this up.
“The equipment and full funding the Lacrosse Foundation are kindly providing for the coaching and officiating courses will help us to not only maintain our Lacrosse development programme but enhance its pathway and progress within St. Mary’s University.
“We offer 24 sports clubs at St. Mary’s and with over 40 players already signed up our aim is to ensure that Lacrosse becomes an established part of that portfolio."
