A student at St Mary’s University, Twickenham has written and published two eBooks in aid of leading health and fitness charity Central YMCA. Second year part-time undergraduate Strength and Conditioning Science student Lincoln Blandford, has published two volumes of the book Injury Prevention and Movement Control in conjunction with Performance Matrix, the leaders in elite movement screening and all profits of the £2.50 sale will go to Central YMCA. In the two volumes Lincoln, who also works as a tutor and assessor on the YMCA personal trainer courses, identifies the core concepts of movement control and how this relates to preventing injury during exercise and day to day life. He said, “I learnt a massive amount about a topic I thought I knew fairly well. This was the biggest benefit of spending so much time with the text that finally became the published work. “Typically, and I imagine this is the case for anyone who publishes a book, I can already recognise how I would make it better and how I’d write it from a more informed perspective if I had the chance again. Perhaps that is a reason to begin volume three.” St Mary’s Programme Director for BSc Strength and Conditioning Science Richard Blagrove said, “It is unprecedented for a student studying at an undergraduate degree level to publish a book, let alone two! The book is easy for practitioners in the fitness industry to understand and is highly accessible in electronic form. I’m sure this achievement will act as a springboard for Lincoln to further develop his career as a coach and educator in the future.”
