This event launches the scoping study on the impact of COVID-19 on modern slavery in the United Kingdom.
The study found the most significant impact of the pandemic thus far to be increased vulnerabilities for people who were already at risk of being exploited pre-pandemic including survivors of modern slavery.
This report recommends that the UK should prioritise improving, not relaxing, prior regulations and services available to vulnerable people to ensure they are safeguarded against further exploitation.
The findings of this report are of value to practitioners and researchers in in the sector in understanding the impacts of the pandemic on modern slavery to appropriately mitigate risks and safeguard vulnerable people. Our panellists will provide further insights into how COVID-19 has affected frontline services and what the increased vulnerabilities mean to practitioners and survivors of modern slavery.
This event is also intended for those who are interested in improving their understanding of the impact of COVID-19 on modern slavery in the United Kingdom.
