Congratulations on joining the Strength and Conditioning (Distance Learning) MSc programme, and a very warm welcome to St Mary's.

Your induction timetable

Day 1 – An introduction to Strength & Conditioning at SMU

About the session

The first induction day includes information about the programme and setting the expectations for the year. We'll start with a welcome talk, followed by icebreaker activities and practical sessions in our performance facility, so please bring training attire.

After lunch, we'll get you logged into the system and talk you through how to access all our content and upcoming assignments.

This is then followed by a keynote lecture in our main lecture theatre, a chance to train in our performance centre, and ending the day with a trip to the local pub and a further chance to get to know your peers.

Day 2 – Module introductions and keynote lectures

About the session

The second induction day includes information about your modules. In the morning we'll have the induction to our first two modules – SAC7101 Practical techniques in strength and conditioning, and SAC7102 Research methods and evidence-based practice) – followed by a keynote lecture.

In the afternoon, we'll have the induction to another module – SAC7103 Biomechanics and Skill Acquisition – and another keynote lecture, before finishing the day with another chance to train in our performance facility.
