You’ll complete your course one block or ‘semester’ at a time. In each semester you’ll study modules. Some are core modules you have to take – others you’ll be able to choose between when you arrive, personalising the course to your interests.

In your first semester you will study the following modules:

• Professional and Counselling Skills Core

Professional and Counselling Skills (Core)

The module aims to increase awareness of professional conduct issues in applied sport psychology work through observations/videos of sport psychologists at work, role play and case study discussions. The module aims to prepare students to understand the professional issues including ethics, code of conducts, and methods of consulting necessary for applied practitioner work.

• Psychology of Sport, Performance and Wellbeing Core

Psychology of Sport, Performance and Wellbeing (Core)

The module aims to advance student knowledge of key theoretical and applied concepts in sport psychology. The module also aims to enable students to diagnose sport psychology skills and to provide suitable interventions. Additionally, the module aims to consolidate critical understanding of applied sport psychology in relation to both research and application.

• Advanced Research Methods: From Process and Product Core

Advanced Research Methods: From Process and Product (Core)

The aim of this module is to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of the stages of the research process from literature review through to presentation of findings. In addition a key aim is the development of a critical understanding of the role of quantitative and qualitative methods.
