We apply the same selection criteria for all routes to Qualified Teacher Status. These include the Assessment Only Route, PGCE (both University and school-led), and school-led secondary salaried route (QTS).
Application process
Your application should be detailed and chronological, with most recent experience first. Your teaching experiences and employment are all relevant and this information will assist university tutors in making initial judgements.
If your initial application is successful you will be expected to provide a portfolio of evidence against the Teachers' Standards for the award of QTS. Applicants should ensure they have a portfolio that demonstrates that they are already meeting the Teacher's Standards at a high level, and can evidence their competence at Maths and English. Guidance and expectations of evidence to be included is in the application form.
Applicants who successfully meet the application criteria are then invited to be interviewed as part of the initial assessment and selection process.
