At St Mary’s whether you decide to live in university accommodation, at home or further afield, we want you to know that you’ll be supported here.
Before beginning their studies, some students planning to stay at home and travel to St Mary's are sometimes concerned about what to do when they get to campus, how to fill gaps between lectures and how they'll meet other students.
The support system and social calendar at the University is available to everyone - whether you live on campus or not - and commuting students are absolutely part of the close-knit St Mary's community.
Commuter hub
Just finished a lecture? Make your way to the commuter lounge, put the kettle on and sit back on the sofa!
Our commuter lounge is in the middle of campus, with kitchen facilities, lockers and a comfy seating area.
The room was created specifically to give students who don’t live on campus an extra place to meet new people and rest in between lectures.
You can use the kitchen to make a cup of tea or perhaps even to warm up your lunch in the microwave.

If you cycle to uni, the lockers are ideal to store your helmet and a change of clothes. If you've got lots of books to pick up from the library and don't want to carry them around all day you could drop them in a locker before you go off to your next lecture.
if you've got some work to finish you can of course use your laptop in the lounge, but there are also computers and a printer available in case you're in need!
