Safeguarding
If you are on a placement in a community setting, part of your work may involve working with children and vulnerable adults. To be successful, you need to have an awareness of the safeguarding responsibilities of a community worker. It is likely that you will become aware of challenging circumstances of individuals partaking in community activities. You may also be someone an individual discloses to; in this case it is essential that you follow the safeguarding policy in your placement organisation. If you feel distressed by a safeguarding concern or situation, seek support from your placement supervisor at the first instance. Your Placement Officer is also available to support you while you are on placement.
