  • Richmond Mental Health Crisis Line – Call 0800 028 8000. Runs 24/7, for free mental health support. 
  • Samaritans – Call 116 123 to speak to trained Samaritans volunteers about any concerns, worries or troubles you may have. This service runs 24/7 and is free and confidential. 
  • SHOUT – Text ‘SHOUT’ to 85258 for a free and confidential messaging service that runs 24/7. This service can be used if you feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or if you are abusing substances, self-harming, having suicidal thoughts, or having difficulties with relationships. 
  • Togetherall free to all students. 24/7 wellbeing support with access to short self-help courses & articles.
  • Students Against Depression – Providing self-help resources against Depression and Anxiety: Useful Resources in managing a mental health crisis, low mood or anxiety.· 
  •  Student Space Access to information, tools & dedicated support services for students.

  • HarmlessUser-led organisation that supports people who self-harm, and their friends and family.
  • Hub of Hope - UK-wide mental health service database. Lets you search for local, national, peer, community, charity, private and NHS mental health support. You can filter results to find specific kinds of support.
  • LifeSIGNS - User-led self-harm guidance and support network.
  • The Mix - Support and advice for under 25s, including a crisis messenger service, email and webchat. Contact 85258 (crisis messenger service, text THEMIX).
  • National Self Harm Network (NSHN) - Survivor-led online support forum for people who self-harm, their friends and families. 
  • Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS) - Offers confidential advice, support and information on health-related matters. You can find services by searching on NHS UK or asking a doctor or healthcare professional for their details. 
  • SaneOffers emotional support and information for anyone affected by mental health problems, including a helpline. To contact, call 0300 304 7000.
  • Self injury support - Information and support for women and girls affected by self-harm, trauma and abuse. Call on 0808 800 8088, or text 0780 047 2908.
  • YoungMinds - Provides advice and support to young people for their mental health, as well as supporting parents and carers.  
  • Contact on 0808 802 5544 (Parents Helpline) or 85258 (text the word 'shout').
  • Cruse Bereavement Care Specialist bereavement support.
  • Bereavement Advice Service – call 0800 634 9494 – For anyone, for practical advice, from 9am to 5pm.
  • Bereavement Trust – call 0800 435 455 – For anyone, for emotional and practical advice, from 6pm to 10pm.
  • Cruse – call 0808 808 1677 (or 0808 802 6161 for Scotland) – For anyone affected by grief.
  • Child Bereavement UK – call 0800 02 88840 – For those who have lost a child, from 9am to 5pm. 
  • Child Death Helpline – call 0800 282 986 every evening from 7pm to 10pm, or 0808 800 6019, on Monday/Thursday/Friday from 10am to 1pm and Tue/Wed from 10am to 4pm – for those who have lost a child.
  • DrugFam – call 0300 888 3853 – For bereavement related to drug and alcohol addiction, from 9am to 9pm, 7 days a week.
  • Grief Talk – call 0808 802 0111 – For anyone, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 9pm. 
  • National Bereavement Partnership Helpline – call 0800 448 0800 – For anyone, from 7am to 10pm for emotional support.
  • Sands – call 0808 164 3332 – For anyone affected by a pregnancy loss or the death of a baby, from 10am to 3pm from Monday to Friday; in addition, from 6pm to 9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide – call 0300 111 5065 – For anyone who has lost someone by suicide, from 9am to 9pm every day. 
  • The Compassionate Friends – call 0345 123 2304 – For bereaved parents, siblings and families, from 10am to 4pm and from 7pm to 10pm, every day.
  • The Lullaby Trust – call 0808 802 6868 – For parents who have lost a baby unexpectedly, such as through SIDS.
  • Marie Curie – call 0800 090 2309 – For practical advice, clinical information and for support on all aspects of end-of-life and of bereavement, from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and from 11am to 5pm on Saturday. 
  • NHS talking therapies (self-referral) If you reside in England and if you are registered with a GP, you can self-refer to free Counselling through the NHS Talking Therapies service (also known as IAPT). Please follow this link to self-refer or to learn more about the service.
  • UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) - Professional body for the education, training and accreditation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Provides online register of psychotherapists offering different talking treatments privately.
