Homestay accommodation offers you the opportunity to stay in a local household close to campus. This is a great opportunity to meet local people and learn about living in the UK.
When there is an increase in demand, we offer our Homestay option to Study Abroad students. This is one of our most affordable types of accommodation and it has been very popular with previous students.
Types of accommodation and rooms
Almost all of our homestay accommodation is close to our campus in the pleasant, suburban locations of Twickenham, Teddington and Hampton Hill.
Staff from the Accommodation Service have visited all homestay accommodation to ensure that it is suitable - clean, well maintained and with suitable hosts who understand the homestay arrangements.
Accommodation may be in a house or an apartment. There can be wide variations in size and facilities. The bathroom is sometimes shared with the hosts. In the some cases the student will have a separate dedicated bathroom or en-suite.
The room can be a single or double (with single or double bed) but will be in good condition, well decorated and warm - furnished with a bed, desk, chair, lamp, hanging storage and chest of drawers as a minimum.
Hosts may be single or couples, with or without children. Many hosts have pets (often cats or dogs). We will place students with animal allergies with a non-pet owner.
Students staying in homestays need to be aware that they are living in someone else’s home and be considerate and sensitive to the family lifestyle.
Homestay is arranged for one semester and provided on a bed and breakfast basis and students are provided with an evening meal in the Refectory every day.
