This page contains all the information you will require to attend one of our SIMMSport session. Should you require any information not on this page please feel free to get in touch via simmsport@stmarys.ac.uk or 020 8240 4334.
SIMMSport is a recreational sports programme focused on delivering fun, engaging coaching to children of all abilities. We aim to cover a range of activities from our SIMMSAthletics to SIMMSplitz gymnastics sessions, giving children a well-rounded athletics experience.
We also provide our award winning SIMMSport multi-sport camps with the aim to provide all children with an unforgettable experience, which sees them taking part in a huge range of sports and activities.
Sessions are delivered by St Mary’s students who have gained the relevant athletics, gymnastics or other coaching qualifications, with many of our coaches training to be PE teachers or sports coaches. Our sessions are focused on ensuring every child has a fun, enjoyable experience.
Our weekly SIMMSport programmes provide 1-hour sessions to all across various time and dates whilst our Multisport camps run from 9am – 3pm.
Our multi-sport and athletics sessions will always aim to take place outdoors on our newly resurfaced Sir Mo Farah Athletics track or our grass pitches (weather permitting). We therefore recommend that all children wear:
- clothing that allows them to be active
- multiple thin layers that can be removed
- waterproof jacket (for light rain)
- comfortable non-marking footwear (for if we go inside) – outdoor sports boots/spikes are not permitted.
SIMMSplitz has a club leotard that can be purchased by contacting our main reception. These are available in sizes 6, 8, 10, and 12 for male and female participants. These are sold at cost price and are available at the following prices (while stocks last):
- Female leotard - £35
- Male leotard - £35 (includes shorts).
If you do not wish to purchase the club leotard, we advise the following:
- clothing should allow them to be active, for example t-shirt & shorts/leggings
- no jewellery (see below)
- footwear will be removed as the children enter our facilities
- avoid free-flowing clothing.
- A large, refillable bottle (at least 1L if possible).
- Packed lunch and snacks for the day (snacks & drinks cannot be shared) (full day camps only).
- Weather dependant - hat and sun cream. Whilst coaches will not be able to apply this directly for children, they can help children as necessary (outdoor sessions only)
- Lots of energy and enthusiasm!
We recommend that all jewellery is removed prior to participation, however we recognise that in some cases this may not be possible. Should this be the case, any irremovable jewellery must be sufficiently covered with protective tape in order to eliminate any risk.
If any coach identifies a significant risk to the participant, coach or others which cannot be controlled satisfactorily, then within the bounds of reasonable safety the coach MUST prohibit participation. This still applies even if a piece of jewellery is taped.
If possible, we also request that no personal items are brought to sessions. As noted in the Sport St Mary’s Terms and Conditions, we cannot be held responsible for any personal items that are lost in our facilities.
Please remove all jewellery prior to any session where possible otherwise your child may not be allowed to participate. In this case, unfortunately no refunds for the session will be given.
All SIMMSport sessions take place on our main campus, located off Waldegrave Road (TW1 4SX).
View our Campus map (PDF). The Sports Village is represented by the letters Ri.
As per previous courses, please enter our campus using the white gates (marked with a pink box below) and follow the road around to the sports centre.
Although we have temporary parking available on site, we recommend that parents/ guardians walk or cycle (where possible) to get to campus (as per government guidance, please avoid public transport if you can).
We have day parking spaces available to all visitors at all of our Campus locations. You can park for up to 12 hours payable via the Just Park App. Instructions on use and how to pay are on all of the parking signs.
Whilst we aim to make drop of and collection as simple as possible, we do have strict rules that must be followed. All parents/guardians must be present to drop of and collect at the start and end of all sessions.
Children in year 6 or above are able to walk home alone at the end of the session. Should you wish for your child to be able to do so you will need to provide the head coaches with a letter stating their wish to do so, including the parents/guardians name, the child’s name and age. This letter must be presented at the start of the session by a parent.
At sign in/out during our Multisport Camps, parents/guardians will be provided with a unique collection code. It is important that who ever is collecting you child has this code otherwise they will not be allowed to leave site.
In the event that any participant is not collected at the end of a day, at least two coaches will remain with the child whilst we endeavour to contact the parent/guardian.
If after 30 minutes we have been unable to contact the parent/guardian(s) by telephone, we will contact the local safeguarding board.
