It is designed for postgraduate students, academics and anyone who is looking to build their confidence in teaching, presenting their research, or addressing large audiences. The course focuses on language, voice projection and tone, use of hands, how to handle questions, and how to display confidence.

This course will run over two sessions on a Tuesday evening between 6pm and 7.30pm on:
- Tuesday 12th November 2024
- Tuesday 19th November 2024.

Content
Participants should identify a piece of work or draft presentation that they are keen to focus on improving for this course.
Following introductions and a brief group discussion about individual needs and common issues, we will focus on what makes for an effective class presentation. We will discuss good and bad practices in the use of slides (including language, text, and multimedia).
Everyone will have the opportunity to work on a short presentation that they can demonstrate to the rest of the group.
During the second half of this course, we will focus on voice techniques and body language. How can you project confidence, warmth, and inclusivity when engaging with a class and presenting yourself? You will learn some new tips and techniques that you can transfer directly.
Requirements
All participants must be over 18 years of age to enrol.
Award
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance, issued by St Mary’s University.
