Emergency First Aid at Work: one-day course

The Emergency First Aid at Work one-day course is a recognised workplace qualification. Whilst enrolled upon this course you will study first aid to the qualification, which is in line with the Resuscitation Council (UK) current guidelines.

Upon the successful completion of the course you will achieve an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for three years.

This one-day course will help you meet your regulatory requirements if your risk assessment indicates that first aid training covering emergency protocols only is sufficient for your workplace.

Dates and times

This one-day course will run from 10am-5pm and you can choose from a number of date options:

  • Saturday 15th February 2025
  • Saturday 17th May 2025.

This course will be held at our Main Campus, Twickenham.

The full cost is £125.

Content

Whilst enrolled upon the course you will learn basic lifesaving first aid and workplace health and safety regulations.

  • Covid-19 safety and precautions, HSE regulations, record keeping, personal hygiene, kits, and cross infection risks.
  • Care of the unconscious adult, child and baby casualty, primary and secondary survey, basic life support (CPR), and the recovery position.
  • Theory and practical use of various models of automated external defibrillator on any casualty aged over one years old.

You will also learn about the recognition and treatment of the following:     

  • asthma, hyperventilation, panic attacks, adult and paediatric choking, and anaphylaxis including use of the Epipen and Jext Auto-Injectors
  • shock and fainting     
  • heart conditions and sudden cardiac arrest/SCA
  • TIAs/strokes, head and spinal injuries, and the spinal recovery position              
  • epilepsy and diabetes                                              
  • burns and poisons                                         
  • specific major and minor injuries, and severe bleeding          
  • work, home, and sports fractures, dislocations, strains, and sprains
  • theory and practical aspects of child and baby choking, baby recovery position, CPR, AED use on anyone over one years old.

Assessment

The course is assessed via practical and individual observations made by the qualified and experienced first aid instructor.

Requirements

To enrol on this course you must be 18-years-old or over. You do not need any formal qualifications or experience to undertake first aid training.

Award

Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded with the Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, which is valid for three years.
