The College of Legal Practice is delighted to confirm that their Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) preparation modules will form part of an LLM in Professional Legal Practice at St Mary’s University, Twickenham from September 2024. Whilst developing the programme, an exclusive promotional partnership has been confirmed, giving access for the University’s alumni to take the College’s SQE preparation courses directly.
As universities in the UK start to consider the future of their Legal Practice Courses, Master’s Programmes are being developed to offer students a career-focused alternative that takes them through the SQE assessments.
The College of Legal Practice, with Degree Awarding Powers, SQE expertise and focus on student experience was selected as St Mary’s University’s partner of choice.
Professor Sara Spear, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, said, “This partnership enables us to combine teaching the essential theoretical underpinnings of the law with the practical skills needed to pass the SQE, in a course that will give students the best start for a career in legal practice.”
Professor Elizabeth Smart, Head of the School of Law and Society, said, “This is a fantastic opportunity to widen the legal professional practice options for our students ensuring they are best placed to succeed in the world of work.”
Dr Giles Proctor, CEO of The College of Legal Practice, said, “We are delighted to have been chosen by St Mary’s University to prepare and support their students to take the SQE assessments. These exams are high-stakes and preparation is intensive, students need a significant level of support to ensure that they can succeed, and my experiencedteam can provide that for them. We look forward to working closely with the team at St Mary’s to support their students’ career progression through this SQE Masters programme.”
