The Institute of Theology and Liberal Arts at St Mary’s University, Twickenham is delighted to be hosting a Sixth Form Theology conference on Friday 16th September from 10am-3pm.
The conference is open to all Sixth Forms and is free to attend. It will cover a range of topics which are explored throughout our BA Theology, Religion and Ethics programme while also relating back to the A-Level syllabus. The day will feature talks from four St Mary’s academics: Dr Susan Longhurst on Secularism and Humanism, Associate Professor Matthew James on Bioethics, Dr Jeremy Pilch on Mary and the Church and the Director of the Institute of Theology and Liberal Arts, Dr Jacob Phillips who will be discussing Jesus.

Additionally, the Institute of Theology and Liberal Arts will be hosting the Lower Sixth Theology Essay Competition. This year’s essay title is ‘The existence of God can be known through reason alone' Discuss. The competition is open to students currently in Year 12 in England and Wales. The prize for first place will be £250 and there will be five honourable mentions who will each win a £20 book voucher.
All entries must be submitted by Friday 8th July at 5pm and it is anticipated that the winners will be announced at a ceremony in mid-September 2022. If you are interested, you can find out more on the St Mary’s website.
