Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business, Law and Society at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, Robin J Birn has received a lifetime award from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
The Board of Directors of CIM have awarded a Lifetime Membership and Lifetime Fellowship to Robin in recognition of his continuous support for CIM for the last 45 years.
The CIM, which was founded in 1911, is the world's largest community of marketers. It supports, represents, and develops marketers, teams, leaders, and the marketing profession as a whole. CIM also accredits courses at St Mary’s, including the BA Business Management and Marketing and BA Communications, Media and Marketing.
Speaking of receiving the award, Robin J Birn said, “This is a great honour from the marketing professional body recognising a considerable time in which marketing has undoubtedly progressed due to the fast-paced profession. In this time the CIM and its members have continued to provide the necessary support and qualifications to allow marketers to excel and prosper in their chosen profession.
“The CIM Accreditation for St Mary’s Business Management and Marketing and Communications and Marketing Degrees allows me to continue to provide this support. It is the time of my life to stop counting the years but to make the years count.”
Head of the Department of Communications, Media and Marketing Dr Jon Hackett added, “This award recognises the esteem in which the marketing world holds Robin and recognises his consistent service to the profession. Students in the Communications and Marketing, and Business Management and Marketing degrees at St Mary's benefit not only from his professional expertise and insight, but from his constant academic support and encouragement, his enhancement of the programmes through accreditation, and the professional networks on whom he can call. It is well deserved.”
