Lecturer in Sport Rehabilitation at St Mary’s University, Twickenham Dr Katrine (Kat) Okholm Kryger presented at two international academic events last month.
Between the 8th – 12th of November, Kat presented at the FC Barcelona Sports Tomorrow Congress at the Barcelona Innovation Hub. Across the four days, nine topics were explored: business, medicine, physiotherapy, technology, coaching, nutrition, performance, analytics and gastrosport.
Kat’s presentation was called Football Boots – Implications on Performance and Injury that discussed why we need to better sports technology focus in women’s football.
Kat co-led The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) at a Fitness for Football coach educator course in Israel as a UEFA women’s football fitness expert. Similar events are happening later in the academic year in Gibraltar and Denmark.
Speaking of the events, Kat Okholm Kryger said, “It is amazing to see and be a part of the shift in focus and respect we see around women’s football. A 5-day conference solely focusing on elite women’s football is a first and it was a great honour to share my research with the attendees. I am also very proud to take a small part of the implementation strategy set by UEFA to ensure an equal focus on men and women’s football on coaching education in every national association.”
