The charities Beating Bowel Cancer, Princess Alice Hospice and Brain Tumour Research held a joint training day using the world-class facilities at St Mary’s University, Twickenham at the end of January.
The day supported the charities’ Virgin Money London Marathon runners in their training and preparation. Personal trainer, Simon Burden, delivered a presentation and coached a track session that gave the runners insight in to preparing for the event and stay injury free.
One of the Beating Bowel Cancer runners, Alice Hillis, said: “The event was really worth it and it massively kicked me into action.”
Beating Bowel Cancer’s events fundraiser, Gemma Ali, said: “It was a great day and our runners gained a lot of valuable advice from Simon to help them with the rest of their London Marathon journey. It’s a tough challenge and every bit of training helps.
“We’re really grateful to all of our runners for taking on the Marathon in order to raise funds for the charity and to St Mary’s University for donating their training space and refreshments.”
The Virgin Money London Marathon 2016 takes place in Central London on Sunday 24th April.
