Alumnus of St Mary’s University, Twickenham and the Endurance Performance and Coaching Centre (EPACC) Mo Farah saw success at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing winning the Gold in the men’s 10k.
Mo, who trained at St Mary’s from 2001 to 2011, won what proved to be a close race in a time of 27:01.13, with second placed less than a second behind. He will also run in the men’s 5000m competition, the heats for which take place on Wednesday, 26th August.
Director of Sport St Mary’s Andrew Reid-Smith said of his victory, “Mo produced an outstanding run in a very tough race to retain his 10,000m world title. We look forward to seeing him going for Gold in the 5,000m which if successful, would give him an unprecedented double at consecutive championships.”
Also competing at the Championships are EPACC athletes Steph Twell, women’s 5000m, and Charlie Grice, men’s 1500m.
