St Mary's joins The Common Application System

On August 1st, St Mary’s University, Twickenham joined over 500 international universities as members of The Common Application (Common App).

The Common App provides prospective international students with an online platform for applying to undergraduate programs across the University’s four Schools.

St Mary’s was selected as one of only ten international universities admitted into The Common App for 2015-2016. St Mary’s admission into The Common App comes as the latest figures released by the UK Higher Education Statistic Authority show that 96% of St Mary’s students enter work or further study within six months of graduating, putting the University in the top 10 nationally.

St Mary’s Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement Anne Moran said, “Our admission into the Common Application system marks a key milestone in our growth to become a top international Catholic University. With over 800,000 students using the Common Application, St Mary’s University will be able to reach a greater pool of potential international applicants.”

In 2015, St Mary’s celebrates its 165th anniversary. The milestone is being marked by a number of high-profile events, including the installation of Cardinal Vincent Nichols as Chancellor in a service at Westminster Cathedral in May.

In addition, there have been a series of high-profile appointments this year including former Secretary of State for Education Ruth Kelly who is to join St Mary’s in a new role as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise, while former Irish President Mary McAleese was made Distinguished Professor in Irish Studies. Meanwhile, former Cabinet minister Baroness Warsi, leading barrister Cherie Blair and Rugby World Cup winning coach Sir Clive Woodward were all appointed as Visiting Professors in recent months.
