The Applied Physics department at St Mary’s University, Twickenham hosted a special one-day workshop to discuss themes exploring the relationship between science and religion.
The aims of the workshop were to rediscover the harmony between science and faith, and to promote a dialogue between scientists, both believers and non-believers, and theologians. The day was articulated in four sessions featuring speakers from the University and beyond.
Programme Director for Applied Physics at St Mary’s Dr Elisabetta Canetta said, “It was delightful to witness the incredible synergy between scientists, philosophers and theologians. The usual science-religion barriers and frictions were not there and very inspiring, fruitful and insightful discussions took place.
“This one-day workshop represents the first step into a journey that hopefully will lead St Mary’s to become a hub for science and faith in the heart of London and the cradle of a new generation of scientists, theologians and philosophers who can appreciate the inner beauty and deep meaning of Life, Nature, the Divine and Man through the laws of nature and science, the deep view of philosophy and the insight into the Divine that only faith can offer.”
