St Mary’s University, Twickenham has been awarded £250,000 Higher Education Innovation Funding (HEIF) from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) for the 2015-2016 academic year.
The award has been given to St Mary’s based on the University’s enterprise income, which is submitted in the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction (HE-BCI) survey in December of each year. The funding is a result of the significant increase in the University’s enterprise income generated in recent years.
HEFCE funds and regulates universities and colleges in England, investing to promote excellence and innovation in research, teaching and knowledge exchange. HEIF funding supports and develops knowledge-based interactions between HE institutions and the wider world, to promote economic and social benefits to the UK.
St Mary’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Claire Taylor said, “The University is extremely pleased to receive this funding which recognises the considerable progress made in relation to enterprise income in recent years. The funding will be used to support a range of activities linked to our growing ambitions in the areas of enterprise and knowledge exchange.”
