MA Physical Theatre students at St Mary’s University, Twickenham are hosting their latest performance Birthday in Suburbia on 15th to 17th April directed by Ally Cologna.
Inspired by the film, It’s a Wonderful Life, Birthday in Suburbia combines a rich mixture of clown and dark comedy, and rich visual imagery, taking the audience through a rollercoaster ride into a parallel world of despair and joy. The production, devised by the students, tells the story of Stanislav Novak, who has a good job and lives in a nice house with his wife and two daughters. During his 40th birthday party, Stanislav doesn’t seem his normal self and locks himself away from his friends and family and won’t come out.
The performance is open to the public and tickets are just £5 and can be purchased from the Drama St Mary’s booking website. The production will be in Drama Studio 3 at St Mary’s Strawberry Hill Campus.
