St Mary’s Offers new Scholarship to Students in India

St Mary’s University, Twickenham is to offer eight new scholarships to students in India as part of the GREAT Britain campaign this year.

Following an announcement from the UK Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills MP Dr Vince Cable, St Mary’s University, Twickenham is to offer eight new scholarships to students in India as part of the GREAT Britain campaign. The GREAT Britain Scholarships – India 2015 campaign is aimed at tackling the falling number of Indian students attending UK universities. In total it will offer 396 undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships at 57 institutions across the UK. As part of the scheme, students wishing to study at St Mary’s in September 2015 will be able to apply for one of eight scholarships, worth £1,500 towards tuition fees, across its four academic Schools. Head of St Mary’s International Office, Mariann Baker said, “Our international fees are comparatively low for the UK and are set in line with the University’s mission and values of offering opportunities to students from all backgrounds. Our accommodation and meal plan packages are also outstanding value. “These factors, combined with the GREAT Britain Scholarships, provide exciting and affordable study prospects to our Indian applicants.” MP for Twickenham and Business Secretary Dr Vince Cable said, “From Indira Gandhi - India’s first woman Prime Minister - to Olympic Park sculptor Anish Kapoor, UK universities have produced some of India’s most eminent and talented graduates and I want that legacy to continue. With no limits on overseas student numbers and scholarships like the GREAT awards, the doors are open to Indian students to benefit from our world-class universities. “This is not a short-term offer. There is huge demand from UK employers for the high level skills Indian graduates can offer, and students that gain graduate-level employment can stay here after completing their studies.” For more information about the GREAT Britain Scholarships, please visit the website.
