The Joseph Conrad Centre at St Mary’s University, Twickenham has announced that two forthcoming volumes in the prestigious Cambridge Edition of the Works of Joseph Conrad have received awards from the Modern Language Association (MLA).
An Outcast of the Islands, edited by Allan H. Simmons, Professor of English Literature, and Victory, An Island Tale, edited by J. H. Stape, Senior Research Fellow in English, and Alexandre Fachard of the Université de Lausanne, have been awarded the Seal of Approval by the MLA Committee on Scholarly Editions.
The Committee on Scholarly Editions (CSE) serves as a clearinghouse for information about scholarly editing and editorial projects, offers advice and consultation to editors on request, honours excellence in editing by awarding emblems to qualified volumes, and promotes dissemination of reliable texts for classroom use and among general readers.
Both An Outcast of the Islands and Victory, An Island Tale, currently going to press, are due out in autumn 2015.
