St Mary’s University, Twickenham recently held its annual Management and Social Sciences Careers Fair which took place on Wednesday 2nd April in the university’s Waldegrave Drawing Room.
The Fair provided an opportunity for students to network with a number of employers and gain an insight into the world of work leading to potential employment. More than 150 students attended along with 17 organisations from the private, public and charity sectors including the NHS, Metropolitan Police, Management Consultancies and STEP Internships (represented by The Careers Group). The aim was to get students talking with employers to find out what people do, how they developed their career, what opportunities they can offer, and how to get on and get into a job you enjoy.
The feedback from employers was very positive with one employer commenting that it was a very, very well organised fair and students were a pleasure to speak with. As a direct result of the fair, a local consultancy firm who attended created two new internship positions for St Mary’s students, offering even greater opportunities for students to enhance their work experience.
