The difference between the Theological Studies degree and the STB is that two years of study in philosophy is required for the STB.
The theological content of both degrees is the same and studied over the course of three years. Each year students take 120 credits, comprised of a mixture of 20 credit and 10 credit modules. The 20 credit modules are also module options for St Mary’s students studying for the BA (Hons) in Theology, Religion, and Ethics.

- Theological Anthropology (20 credits)
- Canon Law 1 – Introduction
- Canon Law 2 – Sacraments
- Old Testament – Prophets
- Old Testament – Historical Books
- Church History 3 – Reformation and Enlightenment to French Revolution
- Church History 4 – French Revolution to Vatican II
- Fundamental Moral Theology 1 & 2
Year Three
- Ecclesiology and Mariology (20 credits)
- Ecumenism and Interfaith (20 credits)
- Personal Ethics
- Social Ethics
- Marriage & Family Life
- Canon Law 3 – Marriage
- Theology of Orders and Ministry
