You can use these links if you only wish to search a single specialist database. However, it is often quicker and easier to search for a topic using Library Search.

In most instances you will need to log in off campus using just your regnum/staff IT number and password, please do not use regnum@live.stmarys.ac.uk unless you see a Microsoft login screen.

  • ABI/INFORM Collection - business, management, and trade - scholarly and trade journal articles, dissertations, market reports, industry reports, business cases, and global and trade news.
  • Accounting, Tax & Banking Collection - this database contains essential publications for information about the financial services industry, including accounting, tax, banking, and industry trends. 
  • Adam Matthew Literary Manuscripts (Berg) - Victorian manuscripts from the Henry W. and Albert A. Berg Collection of The New York Public Library.
  • Adam Matthew Migration to New Worlds - primary source material on the subject of migration (1800-1924).
  • Anatomy TV -  the world’s most medically accurate and detailed 3D graphic rendering of human anatomy. 
  • Arts & Humanities Database - art, architecture, design, history, philosophy, music, literature, theatre, and cultural studies - journal articles.

  • BAILII Open Law Project - includes the full-text of British and Irish case law & legislation, European Union case law, and Law Commission reports.
  • BBC Shakespeare Archive - over 900 programmes from the BBC’s archive of Shakespeare’s plays, poems and sonnets. Register for access with your St Mary's email address.
  • BFI Player - a video on demand service from the British Film Institute, streaming acclaimed, landmark, and archive films.You will need to create an account to use this resource. See How to access BFI Player for details.
  • British Cartoon Archive - over 150,000 newspaper cartoon images from the Carl Giles archive.
  • Business Source Elite (via EBSCOHost) - over 2,200 full text business-related journals, 7,800 case studies, and 12,000 company profiles.

  • Digital Theatre+ - an evergrowing collection of world theatre, as well as archive collections covering a breadth of genres, periods and forms, and interviews with current leading practitioners.
  • Directory of Open Access Journals - provides access to open access, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Drama Online - contains the full-text of over 2,000 plays, the work of over 500 playwrights, plus the Nick Hern Collection.

  • Ebsco Ebook Academic Collection - contains over 200,000 resources.
  • Education Database - abstracts and indexing of over 900 education journals, many in full-text.
  • ERA (Educational Recording Agency) - thousands of specially curated clips, including streamed content and links to external streaming platforms. Register for access with your St Mary's email address.
  • Ethics Finder - an easily useable, expertly curated ethics search engine database hosted by Australian Catholic University.

  • Financial Times (FT) - access to FT's online resources including news articles, third party platforms, and curated newsletters. Please note, if it is your first time accessing this resource you will need to click on the Subscribe button and join our group subscription with your university email address. 
  • First World War Poetry Digital Archive - contains over 7,000 items including text, images, audio, and research. Includes primary material from major poets and multimedia artefacts from the Imperial War Museum.

  • Health & Medical Collection - clinical and biomedical, consumer health, health administration, etc. - journal articles.
  • HeinOnline - database of full-text law journals (off-campus staff: please follow the prompts to log in via the UK Federation).

  • International Newsstream  - recent news content (outside of the US and Canada) with archives that stretch back decades, and featuring newspapers, newswires, and news sites in active full-text format.

  • JISC JournalArchives - archive of over 600 journals from publishers including Brill, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Taylor and Francis and the Institute of Physics.
  • John Johnson Collection - images from the John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera (Bodleian Library).
  • JSTOR - full-text journal archive (most titles are over five years old). See JSTOR collections Available at Your Institution for a list of the JSTOR collections available at St Mary's.

  • Lexis+ - legal database providing access to cases, law reports, law journals, and more. Also provides access to the full-text of all major UK newspapers (both on day of publication and historical). Please note that our license covers use of this resource for academic purposes only.

  • Mintel Academic - market research reports. We have access to UK reports on Beauty and Personal, Media, Food, Leisure, and Retail (Overview). We also subscribe to Trends for research on patterns in consumer behaviour.

  • OAIster - database containing links to many open access books, journals, and theses.
  • OVID - includes Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, and Strength and Conditioning Journal.
  • Oxford English Dictionary (OED) - We do not have a subscription to this as it is available free from your local Public Library. To join Richmond libraries, see instructions on their website which can be found at https://www.richmond.gov.uk/services/libraries/joining_a_library, or if you are not in Richmond check online for instructions if you wish to join other Public Libraries near you.
  • Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (ODNB) - We do not have a subscription to this as it is available free from your local Public Library (see above). The ODNB contains over 60,000 biographies, 72 million words, and 11,000 portraits of significant, influential, or notorious figures who shaped British history.
  • Oxford Journals - online journals from arts, social sciences, scientific, medical, professional and humanities disciplines.
  • Oxford Law Trove - over 190 law textbooks published by Oxford University Press. Once signed in you can click on 'Show all books in my subscription' to browse the full list of titles available to us, this list can filtered by subject.

  • ProQuest Central - the largest single periodical resource available bringing together complete databases across all major subject areas, including business, health and medical, social sciences, education, science and technology and humanities.
  • ProQuest One Business - a mix of practical and theoretical content in an interface that helps students build research skills.
  • PsycARTICLES (via EBSCOHost) - full-text access to nearly 80 psychology journals.
  • Psychology Database - psychology theory and practice - journal articles.
  • PsycINFO - the PsycINFO database is a finding and linking database that contains abstracts, bibliographic citations, references, and other descriptive information. It is not a full-text database.
  • Public Health Database - journals articles, magazines, news, reports, and dissertations on health and medicine.
  • PubMed - access to MEDLINE, the principal abstracting database for biomedical and life science disciplines (includes content published back to the 1950s). It is worth browsing the online help in PubMed before searching to get the most from the database.

  • SAGE Knowledge - a social sciences digital library of more than 4,500 titles. It includes a selection of SAGE e-book and reference content, such as scholarly monographs, reference works, handbooks, series, and professional development titles.
  • SAGE Premier - full-text of over 900 journals published by SAGE.
  • SAGE Research Methods (core) - a research methods resource created to help you with your research projects. Explore methods concepts to help you plan and design research projects, understand particular methods or identify a new method, conduct your research, and write up your findings.
  • ScienceDirect - full-text access to journals from the health sciences and psychology collections.
  • Social Science Database - journal articles on the social sciences.
  • Sociology Database - journal articles on sociology and social work.
  • SPORTDiscus with Full Text (via EBSCOHost) - full text and abstracts of sport journals.
