Below we offer additional Moodle-related best practice, that will help students get what they need out of their VLE.
Panorama is a dedicated accessibility tool that is built into Moodle.
Documents that are now saved into Moodle now have the following icon:
Clicking on this icon will give you and your students access to alternative document formats, including a text-to-speech reader, audio file, PDF, text only, EPUB (for E-Readers), and high contrast document alternatives. Check-out the alternative file formats to see what works best for you and your students.
In addition, your uploaded documents will receive an accessibility report. Once you have clicked on the blue icon you can open an Accessibility Report. Click on ‘Generate’ (shown above) and your document will receive a score. Click on ‘View’ and learn how to improve the accessibility of your document.
Any text in an image is not accessible. It cannot be detected and read by text-to-speech readers. Please ensure text within an image is doubled-up in accompanying written text.
This is a good example of an image with text that is not accessible.

Provide alternative text to for each image you use. Visually impaired students will be able to access this if they are using a screen reader.
You can do this for the images that you add to any Moodle page. Check out the video below to learn how.
