Recommendation

 Rationale

 Silver standard:

Cover images:

Every module should have its own cover image.

Top tip: Use cover images across other platforms (notably Flip) to create consistency within weeks.

Images can be used to establish module themes.  Activity images also become useful signifiers to students revisiting sections.

Images also offer an opportunity for staff to personalise online content.

 Silver standard:

 Copyright:

All images must be Creative Commons licenced or owned by St Mary's. Every image must acknowledge its original source (i.e. © St Mary's 2022).

Please see copyright rationale above.

 Silver standard:

 Accessible images:

All images must have alternative (alt) text provided.

Images should not include extensive written text as part of the picture. Any words on image files such as JPEG, PNG, GIF & etc. are not 'readable' by screen readers. Choose images that contain few words and include any written text as part of ALT text.

Please see digital accessibility rationale above.

 Gold standard:

 Same as above.
