The Home Office is changing the way in which you will be able to view your UK immigration permission (visa status).
Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and vignettes placed in your passport are being completely replaced by a digital immigration permission known as an ‘eVisa’ or ‘digital status’ for all visa holders.
Any student with a biometric residence permit (BRP) expiring on 31st December 2024 can now create a UKVI account and access their eVisa, without needing an invitation from UKVI to do so.
If your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card expires on 31st December 2024 but your Student leave is granted beyond this date, you will need to apply for an eVisa as you digital immigration permission.
Please download our eVisa application guide to complete your application. The Home Office will process and approve your application and send access to your eVisa by email. If you plan to travel outside the UK and return after 31st December 2024, we suggest that you apply for an eVisa beforehand to avoid issues passing through the UK border.
Use our eVisa application guide
After your eVisa is approved by the Home Office, you will receive an email from them with instructions on accessing your digital status using the ‘view and prove’ website. At the bottom of your eVisa page, you will be able to generate a share code to St Mary’s University so we can view your visa status.
We have presented some FAQ's that you may find helpful.
* After Brexit, most international students from European countries will already have an ‘eVisa’ and this information is for any students who have a physical Biometric Residence Permit expiring on 31st December 2024.
