Orientation
Orientation is a great opportunity to make friends, settle in and start finding your way around.
It covers two main areas:
- Life and culture in London and the UK
- Life at St Mary’s including academics, the students’ union, sport.
Orientation schedule
The schedule for the week will be very busy and includes general and academic orientations, tours of the local area and a trip into London. We will provide a detailed orientation schedule before your arrival. Please do not plan any travel during this week, including during the weekend.
Social programme
During International Orientation, we provide free walking tours of Twickenham, Kingston and Central London for you to familiarise yourself with the local area. You may participate in social events held by the Student’s Union. The International Team also arranges on campus events during the semester.
We offer an additional optional social programme through an external tour provider that normally includes trips to Bath, Stonehenge and Wales. Trips are subject to change annually.
Social programme cost
The cost of the social programme depends upon the option you choose. The tour provider will offer the full programme for a discounted all-inclusive price, or you can choose individual trips. Further details will be available during International Orientation.
Student clubs and societies
Another great way to meet people with similar interests is to join one of the Students' Union's many clubs and societies.
Meeting other international students
We have a thriving international community at St Mary’s which accounts for approximately 10% of total students. Prior to arrival, we invite Study Abroad students to join the Facebook group to meet other students.
