The University understands that sometimes personal circumstances mean that leave cannot be planned.
In this event, you may opt to explore the options below and discuss with your line manager.
Emergency Leave Policy
Staff on a permanent or fixed-term contracts are eligible for Emergency Leave.
A dependent is defined as your spouse, partner, parent, child, or any other person who lives in the same household as the staff member.
A maximum of five days paid emergency dependant leave in a 12 month period (any additional dependant’s leave during the 12 months period will be unpaid).
Your line manager should be informed on the first day of absence, or as soon as reasonably practicable, with the reason for your absence and how long you expect to be away from work.
Your line manager will need to complete an emergency dependants leave form and submit to hrhelpdesk@stmarys.ac.uk.
Annual leave
You may consider using annual leave if you need time off work in an emergency.
Please make sure your line manager is informed at the earliest convenience.
